How you can help

Opening a Gurukul is a monumental undertaking. Vediconcepts’ vision to establish Gurukuls across India as an alternative to the current schooling system has encountered numerous challenges. One of the biggest hurdles is the shortage of trained Acharyas and resources. To address this, we’ve devised a plan that allows us to continue progressing toward our goal while working within these constraints.

Here, we outline the four stages we follow in establishing Gurukuls. These steps aren’t exclusive to us; you can follow them too. Every step brings us closer to achieving our shared vision of Vishwaguru Bharat.

Stage 1: Ignite Curiosity & Start a Discussion

One of the most crucial steps in establishing Gurukuls for the future is fostering discussion and sharing knowledge about Gurukul education. By sparking curiosity through questions and conversations, we can spread awareness about the values and benefits of this ancient system.

You can share some of the following great achievements of Gurukul Education and Indian Knowledge System

  • Brahmagupta’s

Educating your family and friends about the achievements of the Gurukul system is a powerful way to inspire interest in India’s traditional methods of learning. It’s essential to highlight the advantages of Gurukul education while addressing the shortcomings of the current schooling system. Only a native, indigenous learning framework can truly nurture a society and help it thrive.

Stage 2: Set up a Library

Libraries can serve as powerful hubs for sharing knowledge. They provide a space where people can gather to study and discuss ancient Indian scriptures and the Indian Knowledge System (IKS). If we aspire for Bharat to reclaim its position as Vishwaguru, it’s essential to foster environments that encourage open knowledge exchange, just as it was in ancient times. Establishing such learning spaces is a crucial step toward reviving and preserving the rich educational traditions of India.

Start small: Buy the following 5 books

The journey begins with self-education. That’s why we encourage everyone to start by purchasing and reading these five essential books. Please keep them in your home library as a foundation for personal growth and understanding of Dharma.

  1. Srimad Bhagwat Gita
  2. Valmiki Ramayana or Mahabharata
  3. Either of the 6 Aastik Darshan
    • Sankhya – Yoga
    • Nyay – Vaisheshika
    • Mimansa – Vedant
  4. Any of the 11 original Upanishad
    • Isa
    • Kena
    • Katha
    • Prasna
    • Mundaka
    • Mandukya
    • Aitareya
    • Taittiriya
    • Chandogya
    • Brihad Aranyaka
    • Svetasvatara.
  5. Commentary on Vedas (must be by an Indian author)

Set up a Small Library @ Home

The next step is to set up a small library at home or in your office. This library can serve you, your family, and your friends or relatives. While it may seem like a small effort, its impact can be profound. In today’s digital age, some might wonder who would want to read physical books. However, remember that technology often complements traditional methods rather than replacing them entirely. A home library can also offer an excellent way to reduce screen time for your children, providing a healthier balance in their daily routines.

Community Library

Community libraries can be a wonderful initiative, especially when started with the help of senior citizens. These libraries can offer the youth a productive way to channel their energy while fostering a deeper connection between generations. With support from Vediconcepts and your local community, this vision can easily become a reality.

While the library should include a variety of books, ancient scriptures should hold a prominent place, ensuring the preservation and dissemination of India’s rich knowledge heritage.

Stage 3: Swadhyay Kendra

Swadhyay Kendra is a dynamic community of self-learners committed to both learning and teaching. It provides a space where individuals can immerse themselves in the study of Indian scriptures, staying for extended periods and progressing at their own pace. Positioned between a Gurukul and a library, Swadhyay Kendras requires more resources than a library but fewer than a Gurukul.

Stage 4: Open a Gurukul

A well-functioning Gurukul, up to the standards of ancient India, is a large and complex organization. Establishing one requires the careful pooling of various resources, including knowledge, infrastructure, skilled educators, and community support.

  • Land & Construction
  • Monthly expenditure
  • Trained Acharyas
  • Students
  • Curriculum
  • Certification & Affiliation
